17th YEC BGM

November 25th, 2007 by kgccyec

The_group

- A poem dedicated to all my friends who have shared the YEC dream with me -

The stage is set with the finale,
With all curtains drawn

and the usual cast gone.

A moment of dullness and gloom descend,

Making sorrow hard to fence.

My friends, my dear comrades,
the moments were carved and set.

I thank you with all my heart

for sharing the memories that shall last.

4
years ago, I stumbled into YEC with a playful heart and an adventurous
mind. Never had I imagined that I would have gained so much more within
the 4 years.

Of friendship, of teamwork, of sincerity, of comradeship.

Do you know what touches me the most?

It
is when I see my dear friends rushing down for our monthly meetings on
Friday; receiving sms and emails that never fail to encourage me to
spur on; seeing Eileen joining us in the activities even when she is
pregnant with a baby; having Yuen Har with us although she is feeling
unwell and tired; seeing Shao Liang coming for the BGM straight after
his work even though he went without sleep the night before;receiving
Huiling’s reminder messages; having Johan around for our events and
meetings even though I know that he is dead beat from work and NDP
practices; getting Nalinee’s messages to say how much she had enjoyed
our company; hearing Peiwen’s laughter amidst her stressful projects in
school; getting the knocks from Da Niu cos I wasn’t looking good with
my stressed face; receiving the kind guidances from Danny; having
Tianli to drive us around and cracking silly jokes…

All these friends showered me with love and care… How can I not miss them at all?

They
stood by me when I was facing immense pressure from the seniors, they
make it a point to attend the meetings and help out in our events, they
laugh at my not-so-funny jokes, they are willing to put down their
status and join me in making monkey faces and doing funny actions for
our elderly friends in Ren Ci, they are always there to encourage and
to support a friend they called to be…And this is precisely the
reason why I cannot let go of my emotional barrier when I was juggling
with the answer I sought so hard to find in the past years.

The
past term was a happy one, although it was littered with specks of
sorrows somewhere, but having rode through the journey made me feel a
sense of joy. It is ironic though - the joy is best described as
bitter, because I know I will miss the sweet taste of our friendship
and the bitter taste of all the challenges that we have overcome
together as one.

I
received an email from Steve the other day. This really surprised me,
because his words encouraged me a lot. Just when I thought I was lost -
he related his thoughts and I was touched. Yuen
Har wrote me an email and her words touched me immensely. Those were
words from the heart, and these words never fail to lift my spirits
high and grant me hope to work even harder.

And last night, I cried while reading Shao Liang’s blog.
His words were beautifully phrased and it was an apt description of the
journey which I went through. Needless to say, I was totally taken away
and yes, I can feel every sincerity that were penned along with the
words on his blog.

Thank
you, my dear friends - for making the 16th term YEC such a wonderful
and memorable one for me. I have truly savored the wonders of our
friendship and I’m sure we have many more years ahead for our
friendship to bloom even more!

Young. Energetic. Committed - may this be the motto that we seek to uphold in YEC!

Crossfire Paintball Showdown - The super firing hot times!

June 10th, 2007 by kgccyec

2007_0610fuji_photos0047

We’ve had lots of great fun playing and firing the pain(t) ball today! Gosh! You should have seen the blue-black marks which were "inflicted" on us by the seemingly harmless paintball :p Though the running was tiring, we all had fun playing and shooting in the maze. We had to run back to our home ground (i.e. fortress or castle) whenever we got shot by our opponents (so it can get VERY challenging), but this is where the fun is!

At the end of the day, its not the pain or the winner that matters, because we have brought with us countless memories and ties of friendship that is far more precious than anything else.

For the ones who have joined us for the paintball showdown, we would like to thank you for being a part of us and for bring such great memories to us all! *Cheers*

A heartwarming Mother’s Day

May 29th, 2007 by kgccyec

Renci2

We spent our Mother’s Day with our elderly friends from Ren Ci hospital and it was truly a memorable and heartwarming interaction.

Though the rain was splattering while we were on our way to the Hospital, our moods were not dampened, because we know that our youthful vibes are far too passionate for the rain to drain our energy.

Guess what we did?? We sang songs and dance wacky banana dance, treated our elderly friends to a simple fare of snacks and played games with them! The magic show brought fun to the crowd, though the "magic stunts" were erm… just passable :p

Many thanks to our young friends from Bedok Green Secondary School who joined us for this wonderful visit.

We’ve had a great time, and we are sure our elderly friends enjoyed themselves too. How do we know? Well, the genuine smiles proved it all! =)

Your most embarrassing moment - REVEALED!

February 27th, 2007 by kgccyec

We had a good laugh over our embarrassing moments during our retreat - those who were there would know what I mean :p

Well well, from the overwhelming response that we’ve received, Kg Chai Chee YEC has decided to come up with a forum discussion for you guys to know us better and also for us to understand you more!

Come on, keep your comments coming!

P/S:
Don’t worry lah, we will not laugh at you one… (at most we only laugh to our computer screen only mah :p)

Dear friends,

It has been a long while since the first idea was conceived 3 years back;
We have planned for this since many months back; 2 days before the Race, we were still having our final meeting and briefing.

And yes, before we know it - the Amazing Race III has ended on a high note & we are now approaching year 2007 - gazing in the direction of Amazing Race (4)!!

Indeed, the rain may wet our physical bodies, but it is the many memorable instances which we shared that matters. Hereby, I would like to thank the opportunity to thank the following people who’ve made this event a great success!!

The Organizing Committee: Gary, Huifen, Justin, Joyceline, Rodney, Eileen, Tianli, Eiyon, Peiwen, Huiling, Nicholas - for the great times that we spent together, the ECP recee, outreach, posters challenge, very late meetings, countless emails, souvenirs packing, transporting the platform from Kg. Chai Chee CC to Siglap CC, tons of sms, countless calls, wonderful and cheery fun times… etc. Thank you, we truly enjoyed the planning process and we are thankful that in the midst of all these, we’ve forged a deeper bond with our dear brothers and sisters of Siglap YEC :)

Mr. Khoo: We can’t thank you more for your invaluable support and for agreeing to conduct the flag-off for us so readily. It is indeed heartwarming to see your family participating in the Race and having fun! Thank you and congrats!<

Tianli: You’ve been a real cool volunteer, always helping us with the logistics, transporting things around and ferrying us wherever we go. Thank you for buying the water-melons & oranges and taking charge of all the logistics. This is a challenging task and you’ve conquered it all! More importantly, I truly respect you for having no qualms about sending us to and fro when we went round stations to patrol and visit the station masters. I know your work is already very tiring and the mere fact that you extended your help so readily and always greeting us with your wide grin and quirky jokes made us appreciate your efforts even more. Xie Xie Ni!!

Eileen: My dear girl, thank you for helping us with the planning and also for helping Tianli with the logistics. Similarly, we understand that your work is tight and yet both you and tianli will rush down for meetings without fail. This is truly admirable. I would also like to thank you for all your advice, encouragement and support whenever I am down. Let’s look forward to another eventful year ahead!

Johan: The slideshow was awesome! And it must have been hard for you and wilson, having to cycle and take photos at the same time. The rain doesn’t help either :p and you know what? the most impressive moment has got to be the slideshow for Amazing Race 2006! You managed to put the photos together and produce such a memorable slideshow for all the participants!! Thank you so much!

Wilson: The heavy rain got you drenched, but you still carried on to take the photos in such professional manner! Many thanks for the great photos! Both you and Johan have a special ability - to create and keep memories for others! Thank you so much for this beautiful gift!

Peiwen: You’ve made a great impact to the Amazing Race with the superb poster design! Although this is your first attempt, I must really congratulate you on the incredible results! I am sure all our friends will agree with me that the poster design is very nice and apt for the race :) I would also like to take this opportunity to apologize to you having made you go through the scolding from the printer aunty :x Lucky you can go to other printers hor? ;p hee.. But I personally feel that this is an appropriate platform for you to learn and gain experience in the design arena. Look forward to your new art works!

Junn: I am very touched when I heard that you have to go to work after Amazing Race. Thank you for taking the effort to come down and help despite your irregular working hours *hugz* Please really take good care of yourself and do not overwork orh! Your brothers and sisters from YEC are always around for you!

Nicholas & Yong Hui: Hey, thanks lots for helping out at the fruity station! I am sure yu guys enjoyed te-kan the participants and watching them peel oranges/ crush watermelon huh? *wink* Nonetheless, our sincere appreciation to you for taking time to help us with the Amazing Race, we look forward to meeting you at our Xmas Lunch on Sat!

Cedric, Malik & Vick: Yo! Thank you for helping us with the “cans transporter” station! Your help is greatly appreciated by us all!

Yuen Har: Ah, I am really at a loss for words. How can I thank you enough?? You only slept for afew hours, yet you came down so happily to help us with the Amazing Race. The thoughtful photos that you sent, and the “I am okay” from you, makes me all the more touched. My dear friend, please be strong and brave, for you have wonderful friends like us who will accompany you through thick and thins, just like how our participants conquer the stations one-by-one! You know what? your support and presence is enough to make us happy!

Cherry & Zhu: Sorry for having to let you girls get drenched in the rain. I hope you’ve brought back wonderful memories and yup, thank you so much for helping us! Both your presence has brought much boost to my energy and morale level! My 2 best friends, we stand as one and fall as one! I look forward to our upcoming gatherings! *Hugz*

Eiyon: Our game in-charge (and Justin too!), xie xie ni de coconut drink and for planning such interesting games! Understand that your work is one busy and irregular schedule, hence your help is definitely appreciated by us all! Look forward to more quirky games in Amazing Race 2007! *grinz* Yup, how can I forget about the jungle- path while doing our patrol? Though the jungle was muddy and yucky, I am glad that we went through it all!

Huiling: Dear secretary never change. Huiling, thank you for always reminding me of important tasks and coming up with such wonderful ideas (e.g. distributing our newsletter)! Sorry that I wasn’t able to chat with you yesterday.. and yeap, thank you for always calling up to update us on the happenings and to remind us to bring mineral water to the station masters.. Very thoughtful and sweet.. And of course, for getting your sister to help us with the publicity at Ngee Ann POlytechnic! thank you lots lots! *hugz*

Shaoliang: Hey hey! Thank you for meeting us so early in the morning and sending us the pretty-and-FRESH-from-the-oven group photo! I love the edited photo :) Yup, and also for helping out at the scavenger bingo station! Read your blog - hope you are feeling better already :)

Gravity Band + Tommy: Hey Tommy, first I need to apologize for the delayed responses and I would also like to thank you for agreeing to perform for the event. We enjoyed the songs as much as you guys had while playing the tunes! Look forward to your next performance already! :o)

Bronson: You are our Saviour. Thank you for helping us with the PA system and for coordinating with Gravity Band. Your professionalism is very much appreciated by us! :)

Steve: Many thanks for coming down and rendering your support for our events! :)

Jing Jing: Thank you for helping us secure the handy souvenirs which made the goodie bags so attractive!

The list is long and there are still many more people whom we’ve yet to thank. For the great turn-out and successful closure, lets toast into the air as we usher in the jolly new year

*THANK YOU*

See you in Amazing Race 2007!

From Christine

Afternote: Christine, thanks to you too, for getting in the sponsorships, for getting so many helpers and most importantly, for leading our kg cc yec team :D ~eileen
